My name is Kelson, and I have always been known as the short guy. Ever since I can remember, I’ve always been the shortest one in the room. Sprouting to 5’1 in adulthood and just celebrating my 30th birthday, I’ve had my fair share of struggles, including losing a wrestling match to a girl that was five grades lower than me. In grade school and high school, I heard all the insults and was attempted to be put into as many small spaces as possible, including an Emporium bag — a true story.
With that said, I also had an awesome time in high school because I was very charismatic and became friends with everyone. All the girls thought I was adorable, and I was actually voted “biggest flirt” my senior year. Life was good, and I was excited to go off to college. Then I was hit with a nose-breaking haymaker from life. Suddenly the girls weren’t flocking to me anymore. I was still very charismatic and could gain friends with ease, but my confidence wasn’t quite the same.
I had to transition from my small rural town, where if you had a way with words, you could basically run the town, to the real world where social norms were in place; a phrase that I wasn’t taught in high school. I dove into reading about psychology, confidence, charisma, self-help and have made tremendous progress on becoming comfortable with who I am again. Join me on my journey, and grow your confidence with me.
